The story of San'Kora: when our roots inspire today's natural skincare.
My name is Sophie SIMONNET , founder of San'Kora.
My return to natural hair began in 2005 in Guadeloupe, and you know, that struggle with teenagers to get them to choose safe products. And one day, after yet another discussion, my daughter says to me:
If you can do better, go for it!
And the challenge was set at the beginning, and that was only the beginning....
It was at this moment that I searched, I learned to understand my frizzy, curly hair. By remembering my grandmother's protective hairstyles: cabbage, "cacas Kabrit" and oils: castor, coconut, annatto.
Training in simple techniques and studying the virtues of natural ingredients was a real challenge.
However, a need for products aligned with natural ingredients persisted. I started to find the ingredients, then tentatively created treatments truly adapted to curly, wavy and frizzy hair , without complicated routines or products too heavy for me and my teenage daughters.
It went beyond that...From now on, it seemed obvious to me to erase the mistakes of the past and evolve towards our way of choosing and using nature, in order to leave them a hair legacy linked to my values.
Then, with those around me, I realized that I was not alone and the recurring topics were finding solutions for dryness, breakage, maintaining hydration... and faced with this, a lack of satisfactory solutions.
So, I started sharing the products I created for my daughters and... and then the lightbulb went on with a colleague and my sister...
And so, the decision was quickly made to secure the products through a laboratory specializing in black skin and to create San'Kora :
